Kia ora, the office is closed over Easter weekend.

Annual Practising Certificate (APC) renewals: we will, however, be processing completed APC renewal applications during the Easter break but we won’t be able to respond to emails or phone calls. If we need more information about your application we’ll let you know next week (from 2 April).

If you’ve provided additional information at our request, this will be reviewed and processed over the weekend. If we need more information we’ll be in touch next week (starting Tuesday 2 April).

Note: if you’ve paid and provided all other necessary information, we may be waiting on your supervisor to confirm your continued competence and fitness to practise. Please follow up with them if that’s the case.

Online Examination

Eligibility

You are only eligible to sit the online examination if you:

  • are an overseas-trained practitioner; and
  • have submitted a completed overseas registration application and submitted your fee payment; and
  • the MRTB’s Registration Committee has reviewed your application, and deemed that your qualification is not equivalent to the required New Zealand standard; and
  • you have been offered the opportunity to sit and pass the online examination as a pathway for registration under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003.

Enrolment

To enrol in the examination, you need to send in the signed online exam agreement and pay the online examination fee.  The agreement and payment must be received before enrolment closes for the examination you wish to sit.

Please note, you must pay an examination fee each time you sit the examination. This means you must pay a new fee (and submit a new online examination agreement) if you are resitting the examination.

Registration

When registration opens, we will email you the URL for the online examination portal and your unique authorisation code. Once you are registered you can select the date and time you wish to sit the examination and sit a practice exam to help you become familiar with the structure and question style of a typical examination.

Location

The online examination is administered by Kryterion Inc. a company located in Arizona, USA. The online examination is completed via an online proctoring set-up. Online proctoring means that you log on through the internet to take your examination. You are monitored by a proctor employed by Kryterion Inc during your entire testing session in real-time. This monitoring involves your face, voice, desk and workspace being captured via a webcam, and a recording is made of these images for examination security and the integrity of the examination process.

If you are currently enrolled to sit the Online Examination, please contact the Examinations Coordinator for further information.

Delivery

The MRTB’s online examination will be delivered through an online environment – and you will need to have access to a computer to sit the examination.

The exam will be overseen by an examination proctor whose role is to verify your identity and ensure that the instructions specified by the MRTB are carried out.

We strongly recommend exam candidates schedule their exams between 8.30am to 1pm (New Zealand time) in order to maximise the technical support available to them.

Identification required

You will be required to provide the exam proctor with two forms of identification, one of which must be a current, valid government-issued photo identification.  You must also provide your unique authorisation code.

Should the exam proctor have a reasonable concern about your ability to properly establish your identity or there is concern that identity documents are being misused, you will be refused access to the exam.  Anyone who is refused access to the exam forfeits the prepaid examination fee.
