Clinical practice is any work undertaken by a medical imaging and/or radiation therapy practitioner that relates to the direct care of an individual patient.
Non-clinical practice is any work undertaken by a medical imaging and/or radiation therapy practitioner that does not relate to the direct care of an individual patient.
Application Process for Non-Clinical Practice
1. Already Holding a Current APC (2017/2018)
Practitioners who have been issued with an APC for the 2017/2018 year, and who wish to have a condition of non-clinical practice placed on their APC can download an application form from the Board’s website at www.mrtboard.org.nz.
2. 2018/2019 APC Year Onwards
The online APC renewal process will be amended to enable practitioners applying for an APC from 2018/2019 onwards to complete their application to have a condition for non-clinical practice electronically.
3. Returning to Clinical Practice
Practitioners who wish to return to practising clinically (that is, involvement in the direct care of a patient in terms of medical imaging or radiation therapy) will need to meet the Board’s Recency of Practice policy requirements.
This may include completing a period of supervised practice, sitting a registration examination, and/or retraining.
