Qualified Overseas?
Practitioners wishing to practise in New Zealand must completed the Application
Form and submit all documentation and fees payable prior to application
process commencing.
Please
refer to the information booklet which sets out the documentation you
are required to submit in support for your application. Do not send
original certificates – send copies that are certified as true copies by
a solicitor, Justice of the Peace, Notary Public or other officer
qualified to perform such authorisation.
If the Board requires
you to undertake a competency based assessment (CBA), you will be
advised to obtain a clinical placement as a trainee in a training
hospital or approved private practice. As a trainee, you would be
required to comply with section 7 of the Health Practitioners Competence
Assurance Act: you must not claim to be registered or do anything to
imply that you are registered with the Board. Because your supervisor
would be responsible for your actions as a trainee, you would not need
to hold a practising certificate (APC or interim practising certificate)
until you pass the assessment and are granted registration by the Board.
(You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read the PDF files; it's available to download for free. It may take a while to download.)
