Protecting and promoting the health of New Zealanders by ensuring Medical Radiation Technologists are competent and fit to practice
The Board has prescribed qualifications required for registration in the profession of medical radiation technology. New Zealand educational institutions who offer these qualification programmes are required to meet the Board's accreditation standards and undergo an ongoing monitoring process.
Also included in this section is information for organisations who provide continuing education and professional development programmes for registered medical radiation technologists.
Sections 12 (1) and 12 (2) of the Act require the Board to prescribe the qualifications for each scope of practice the Board describes and to monitor every New Zealand education institution that the Board accredits for providing those prescribed qualifications.
Providers of recertification programmes for medical radiation technologists (all scopes of practice) must have prior approval from the Board. All recertification programmes must meet the standards set by the Board.
