Annual Practising Certificate (APC) renewals: we will, however, be processing completed APC renewal applications during the Easter break but we won’t be able to respond to emails or phone calls. If we need more information about your application we’ll let you know next week (from 2 April). 

If you’ve provided additional information at our request, this will be reviewed and processed over the weekend. If we need more information we’ll be in touch next week (starting Tuesday 2 April).

Note: if you’ve paid and provided all other necessary information, we may be waiting on your supervisor to confirm your continued competence and fitness to practise. Please follow up with them if that’s the case. 

Conduct reviews

The Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 enables the Board to appoint a professional conduct committee (PCC) to investigate a complaint alleging that the practice or conduct of a health practitioner registered with the Board may pose a risk of harm or serious harm to the public.

The Board may decide to refer a complaint referred by the Health and Disability Commissioner to a PCC.

The Board has the discretion to decide whether to refer practitioners with certain Court convictions to a PCC or a health review, providing the practitioner consents.

The PCC has jurisdiction to regulate its procedures. The PCC adopts and follows procedures to ensure the health practitioner who is the subject of the referral, the Board, and any complainant, are kept informed of the review's progress.
